Gut Feeling

My work is a response to both the natural world and my internal struggles. Each piece embodies my psychological and physical states as I live with Chronic Bowel Disease and mental health challenges. The pain and anxiety I experience while creating often guide me toward entangled, complex landscape; contained yet detailed observations of nature that reflect my inner turmoil.

I am drawn to the chaos and randomness within the natural landscape, continually searching for patterns and rhythms that mirror my own condition.

Working with ink, acrylic spray paint and marker, I blur the boundary between control and spontaneity. This process allows me to capture the vivid intensity of a fleeting moment in nature, while also revealing the complexity of the emotions behind it.

These works are part of my ongoing exploration into how landscapes are internalised and reimagined. Although they reference real locations such as Mt Alexander and the Melville Caves, they are not bound by realism. Instead, they are filtered through emotion, memory, and the physical gestures of painting and mark-making.
